Default Noise at 5,000-6,000 RPM's

I was driving today and decided to get on it a little bit.

When I reached 5,000 RPM's I heard a noise that sounded as if there was an exhaust clamp loose, it would make like a metallic sort of rattling noise. This noise happens between 5,000 to 6,000 RPM's only, it does not happen at any other RPM's, I checked under the car but found nothing.

Has this happened to anyone on here? I'd appreciate any inputs on this.

what year is it?

i just recently traded my 2000 for a 2002 and discovered the buzz. It happens when i am going 56, in 5th gear, going about 5000 rpm.. I think i was in 5th.

It sounds like it happens right behind the driver side seat. thought it was the spare tire, but it wasn't. beats me. i only have 550 miles so it bothers me tons.

I am also getting a buz right in the center part of the dash board, hear where the window is meeting the dash. I can bang on the dash and can hear something rattle. sucks...

its a 2002, recently bought

I hear different things on this car. I hear some gear mesh when deaccelerating, but I hear thats normal.

Now this metallic noise worries me because I checked the car out and there is nothing loose and I only hear it inside the car.

sometimes the sound in the cabin fools me too. I am certain that the sound is coming from right behind the driver side, but i never can tell. It is a buzz, not really like a loose screw or the spare tire sound.. more like... i dunno know to explain it. I guess it sounds like the gear buzz from the front, but again, this is coming from the rear.

I've got a 2002 with no buzz. 518 miles. Just so you know it isn't all of them. I'll let you know if I develop one.

Robin.

Guys, I have an 01, the buzzing rattling used to bug the heck out of me, but to be quite honest you can never get rid of all of them. The way the s2000 is, it will just rattle here and there, I dunno why. If you have a buzz in interior, check the sun visor as a likely culprit, the seats and seatbelts etc tend to make noise along with the door panels. You can spend a day on these issues and get rid of them. Slight noise here and there from teh drivetrain, etc (minimal rattle, a ting here and there) is normal.

Yeah, the S2000 sure does produce a lot of unique sounds. It's really hard to discern the "normal" ones from the bad ones, although I think I'm starting to get used to certain ones that sound weird, but I'm told are normal. One thing that fools me a lot is the seatbelt sometimes vibrating against something.
