Is this noise normal (Video)
Some conversations with some friends lately has sparked some interesting clutch questions in regards to input shaft bearings and such. It was stated to me that when you release the clutch of a manual transmission car, no change or audible noise should be heard. A friend of mine is currently ripping apart his transmission in his civic because his car makes a somewhat similar noise.

Where was the microphone used to record the audio? I have a similar but much more quiet noise when the clutch is engaged and the transmission is in neutral. I've always chocked it up to low levels of noise deadening material and the transmission being so close to the cab. Any mechanical system is bound to make some noise when operating and engaging the clutch causes parts of the transmission to start operating. That being said your friend's Civic sounds like hell and your S2000 not so much.
The microphone was placed directly under the car below the engine. According to some other owners I have heard from, the s2000 makes more noise when released than some other vehicles. It is barely audible from within the car actually and the transmission works flawlessly in every way. My friends car we definitely know has a problem and the transmission is currently being taken apart.
I just got paranoid and wanted to hear from some other s2000 owners to verify my thoughts!!

I've always found my honda's to be a little loud. I don't usually go by just audio alone. If everything feels/performs well the occasional noise is to be expected.
What has always bothered me is the 'honda tick' which appears to be lifter related.
