Default noise under hard and sustained cornering

car is an 07 stock s2000 with 26k miles.

i took this to the dealer twice. the first time they found a spring spacer from delivery still in the front driver side coil spring.

i thought perhaps the noise was just rubbing of the tire on the spring spacer when under cornering.

the noise persists.

i took it in today and found no more spring spacers so instead they said it's my driving style. clearly they're no longer taking my problem seriously.

the noise only presents itself in a high load turn for some sustained period of time. turn has to be longer than 2 seconds or so. it's almost impossible to reproduce this sound on city streets that are all 90 degree turns. if the sound is reporduced it's too short in duration.

the noise comes from the front wheel(s). it's present in both left and right turns.

the noise is a moany grind, oscillating. on certain oscillation of the grind it will actually seem grabby and brake the wheel it's coming from.

there are no noises when driving straight or under low load turning conditions.

i need at least a preliminary diagnosis so i can tell them what to check. the tech actually tried to say it's the vsa working, but the vsa light does no blink and also i can accelerate and make the sound worse, it's also coming from the front wheels (does vsa brake the front wheels?).

please help.

are you rubbing anywhere? stock whell/tire package? stock springs/struts?

To me it sounds like your rubbing on your fender or inner fender. You could use some chalk and see if you rub any off. Chalk your fender lip and inner fender and see if there is a bare spot after taking a turn where you can hear it

the wheels and tires are all stock. it also doesn't sound like rubbing on a fender. also steering angle doesn't change the sound.

HAAHHAHA I got a great story to this one too... mine had the same sound. It sound like grinding. All stock... First I thought was the VSA.. so I turned it off. And then I punched it... Then spun out and drove into a bunch of bushes.. Till this day I still regret turning off that VSA. And I still don't know what that sound is to today.

That was. A pretty good story.

Did you ever figure out your answer. I have an 06 with approx 40,000 on the clock and am working on the same thing. At this point I am suspecting either motor mount or a hub and bearing issue.

It's quite possibly IS the VSA working. The whole groaning, pulsing thing he described just sounds like it.

Funny you should say that. I turned off VSA today and could not replicate the noise. However, the question of the day is that if this is the cause, why did VSA just now begin kicking in when the car has been driven the same throughout my ownership time of a year and a half? I am going to mess with it some more and see if this is truly the cause.
