thanks to everyones tips and advice..

i did the TCT swap today, took me about 3 hrs including oil change.. mostly because i didnt have the right tools (eventually gave up and went to buy them) but it all worked out in the end...

and the noise is GONE

i had been taking it easy on the engine for the last 2 weeks (that means NO vtec) i was really suffering from vtec withdrawl... so good to have a healthy sounding engine again

My car started ticking on Monday. My oil was low, I topped it off, but the ticking continued.

I came on here today and searched for ticking, found your video and that is EXACTLY what I am getting. I get it at all RPMS from just off idle on. It's LOUD too.

I am using (was using, changing NOW) Mobil1.

The car has 18,800mi on it. (and the warranty is LONG gone. )

The instructions provided show me how easy this is, and since I have a CAI this is going to be a cake walk.

I ordered my TCT from Hardtopguy (I'd rather pay a little extra and help support a friend anyway.) Hopefully it will be here by the weekend so I can install it and make my noise go away.

i too checked this video and it was the same sound as mine. well i took it to one of my local stealerships and they told me the reason honda went with the chain system was because its bulletproof and the parts guy wouldnt let me order the TCT. the S2000 mechanic even said it wasnt that, so i listened to him and he said replace the idler pulley cause it could be bad bearings or something, did that, and also did the auto tensioner pulley, and still the same sound. went to the other dealership in town and the S2000 mechanic said without a doubt its the TCT and it IS covered under warranty and it will be done tomorrow(thursday) been in since tuesday morning. I am so glad this is covered by honda care, when even though the other dealership told me it wasnt.

So many mechanics will rattle off words, just to have something cool to say. People like that are not qualified to work at Jiffy Lube.

I have a similar sound but if his video were a 10 on loudness scale my noise is a 3ish. Can this still be the TCT or is it always loud like that?

nice. socal dealers (ahem, sierra) say "honda makes us do a partial tear down, estimate of $900, to see what the problem is"

I replaced my TCT yesterday (saturday.) It was VERY easy to replace (as advertised.) The CAI on my car made it even easier.

Thanks again for all the help, the car is MUCH quieter now.

I did also do a complete oil change (oil and filter.) and went back to dyno oil, no more Mobil1 for my s2000.
