Exclamation is this normal?

Ok I think it is but I'm always paranoid. I keep thinking my maint light is going on but I'm not sure.

Ok so after you start up the car all the normal lights go on, check engine oil etc but 2 lights stay on for the longest maybe a half second longer. ABS light the blue one, and the maint required light then they both go off the same time.

I was thinking that maybe I need to reset it and so I turned my key to off pressed trip reset for 20 seconds while i had turned it to power without starting engine, last notch. All that did was keep the maint light required lighted on until I let go of the button then it went off. So is it normal for those 2 lights to stay on just a lil longer than the main lights at start up? Maybe I was paying to much attention to my dashboard and never noticed it before?

I rememer when I had to reset it a few months back same process because it was blinking. thanks!

The lights don't turn off until the computer is satisfied that the associated system is functioning properly. The ABS light will stay illuminated a bit longer as the ABS primes itself (you may have noticed how the prake pedal will pulsate slightly if you press it immediately after starting the vehicle, if it has been sitting overnight - that's the ABS making sure it has enough pressure in the reservoir). Anyway, don't worry about the lights unless they stay on.

Yes, the MIL will remain illuminated until all systems have passed, and thus all other lights have turned off.

If the dash lights stay on, an easier way to turn them off is to cover them with black electrical tape.

You'd be surprised how often I see that.

ok hey try this alex, go to your car and do the reset light routine even if your car doesnt need to reset.

Hold the button, put key in and turn key all the way to right.

While your holding that button and the car engine is not on, the Maintance light stays on as long as your pushing that button correct? Once you let go the maint light goes off, Try this and let me know if its the same for you

But if I remember correctly, it does stay on until you let go of the button. Seriously though, don't worry about it. Unless the light remains on (for at least 1min), there's nothing wrong with your car. You are, like you said, just too paranoid.

It's just like when you have to reinstall a hood. It takes you several tries to get it lined up (and even at that, you're not satisfied), but ever stop to think that maybe the hood wasn't lined up perfectly in the first place? Perhaps you only notice the hood being misaligned because now, you actually have reason to pay attention.

Or when you notice a groaning noise, or a slight shimmy after you install new tires. There's nothing wrong, you're just noticing things more easily. I'm not saying you should ignore all the squeaks, creaks, groans, and clunks that your car makes, just don't get too anal about it.
