Default not starting

today when i left work i started the car like normal but it seemed like it took an extra split second to fire, i drove 10 minutes home, turn the car off, go let the dog out and then go to move the car and it tries to fire but then runs out of juice,..almost like a dead battery,....all the lights work, radio etc.
does this sound like the starter??? if it is,..then is it normal for them to just take a crap like it did on me? i thought they had warning signs of going out.

Best thread title ever.

Sounds like the battery to me. Had the same symptoms about a year ago (luckily in the parking lot of walmart)....replaced the battery and voila.

Put a meter on the battery to see what kind of charge it is holding.

What some people fail to realize is that car batteries do not always give any warning before dying. Sometimes a battery will work fine for 5-6 years, and suddenly it's performance will plunge dramatically to never recover.

if you try to crank the engine and the lights in the dash are still burning
when while you are pressing the starter button it is probably going to be
the starter but if the lights go out while starting it will probably be the battery

Classic symptom of dead battery for this car.

The reason for spontaneous failure is growths between the plates. Once that happens the battery dead shorts.
