Default NRG Carbon Damper Problem

A friend and I just installed my new carbon hood dampers. We first put them on backwards and they seemed fine. I just noticed in a picture that was posted that they were wrong so we took them off and turned them around. When I pushed down on the hood after lowering it It felt like they were hitting the inside of the hood. We raised the hood and did the grease test. Sure enough they were hitting the inside of the hood. It even looked like the hood was raised up alittle in the area of the damper with the hood shut. So...We flipped them around again to the backward position and it closed much easier. We decided to do the grease test again and they are fine up front now but the bottom of the carbon shaft now hits the inside of the fender alittle at the bottom of the damper. The part that is touching is the edge of the fender where it is raised up alittle. I can either live with that or maybe push the raised part of the fender in alittle so that it does not hit.

I think that the thing that is causing the problem is the carbon wrap. Maybe it makes the damper just alittle thicker around???

My main question is... Does it hurt anything to have them in backwards??? It looks fine either way to me and they seem to function fine.

my regular nrg's work both ways perfectly... is there a difference in thickness between the top halves of the damper?

There's no problem in running them in either direction. It's really just personal preference.

Okay....Putting them in backwards seems to have fixed the problem. I drove 160 miles today and there are no scratches or rub marks on the dampers or my fenders. I actually like the way they look that way anyways as long as it doesn't hurt them. If something weird comes up I will post an update.
