ODB II Scan Tool
I'm interested in an ODB II scan tool.
I've seen the Auterra for the Palm and it looks pretty good.

But their international ordering is abysmal. Money Order of Western Union. Come into the '90's guys.
What other alternatives are there? I have a Palm Pilot and a Mac laptop but will probably buy a PC laptop for the car anyway. Are there home brew options?
Anyone interested in arranging or participating in a GB of these?

Oh yeah, and you can buy them on ebay for about $200 but once again, no international orders. At the worst I buy on ebay, pay with PayPal, and have it shipped to a US address. Then have it shipped here. Gotta keep the couriers in business.
I can't believe no one is interested in an ODB II scan tool? You can check all sorts of sensor readings whilst running and even do a G-Tech style dyno run. And the feedback is graphical over a period of time.
You can order the cable/software from http://www.obd-2.com. However this would be for your laptop. The total cost to your credit card would be well under $200 ($122+$24shipping) and you didn't even have to setup a group buy.
Using a Palm doesn't make as much sense because of the limited data storage. Why is that form factor so important.

It wasn't so important. It was just the first format I found, and I happen to have a Palm.
And storage isn't so limited. I have a 128Mb cad in the Palm. That's a whole lot of ODB data.
Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.
The good thing about a laptop solution is the ability to do GPS tracking as well. So with the right software you get a full track data logger and timer as well.

Looks good but pricey.
The one Jerry suggested looks as good and has the GPS feature and is much cheaper.
This one actually looks better display wise but no mention of GPS and I think I'd rather buy from a small developer who is enthusiastic about developing the product.

The autoenginuity guys sent me an email about their impending data logging functionality but it's a ways off. They expect logging for 0-60 and 1/4 mile by January.
In the meantime I've gone with the OBD-2 hardware and software and a Delorme Earthmate GPS. Only problem is I don't have a PC laptop!
I'll probably pick up an old one somewhere but in the meantime I'll just use Windows emulation on my Mac.
