Default Odd clunk.

So the other day i decided to install my new lowering springs. I got the left front strut out and took the spring off. I wasn't able to compress the spring and put the top nut on so i decided to put the OEM spring back on and do my springs another day. I brought the strut to a local shop to get it compressed since the oem spring is nearly impossible without a compressor.

Anyway, i put it all back in and didn't drive the car until today. I drove it and at first heard nothing, figured it was all great. I am returning home and begin to hear a clunk. I jacked the car and everything is tight as could be. I noticed everything was wet, at first i thought just the WD40 from the other day but it smelled and felt like brake fluid. I held pressure on the pedal and nothing leaked.

So now i come to you guys, im new to the S2000.

The only thing i noticed was that the spring was not 100% seated in the notch in the bottom cup. Now i don't know if that would cause a clunk or not.

Thanks for reading (if you even bothered to )

-Nick.

How many miles were on your OEM struts? Sounds like you might have blown a seal in one.

Struts have 72k on them. I thought maybe they stut blew out and that is what the fluid was. The strut seemed pretty dry though.

Does anybody have an exploded view of the strut assembly? Maybe a bushing was installed wrong..

UPDATE:
I just stepped outside and bounced the car with my hand on top of the strut mount.

On the driver side i can feel the clunk, when i bounce the passenger side i don't feel a thing.

I'm going to say the strut blew out on the driver side.

If you don't have the spring seated properly it can cause a poping noise.

Since I started this thread i have come across 2 things.

I can feel the clunk when i push down on the left side and my hand is on top of the mount. ( i do no feel this on the opposite side)

the brake pedal is still solid, so im going to say the leak is NOT brake fluid. I guess it has to be the fluid from inside the strut?
