Default OEM Diff Oil UOA

I changed out my OEM diff oil a couple weeks ago, and sent some to Blackstone Labs for analysis. They are worried about the wear metal levels. I tried to find posts with other S2K diff oil UOAs, but they were all Red Line or LE607... Has anyone else had the stock fluid analyzed? Similar results? Blackstone recommended that I send in another sample after ~8000 miles, and if the wear is still high I should contact the dealer...

Pertinent Information:
-Car purchased new in Feb '06
-Diff oil changed in April '07 w/ ~8300 miles on the odo
-Car had ~10 auto-xes on it at the time of the change (Blackstone didn't think this was the cause of the high wear)
-I don't baby the car during normal driving, but I'm not a burn-out king either.

Oh, and disregard the comment about the washer. The drain-plug gasket fell into the bottle while I was taking the sample, and I didn't feel like digging it out.

Any advice/info would be appreciated... Thanks!
-Eric

"We also found a washer in the sample bottle."

Thanks! for doing & posting the UOA.
It's also "evidence" the OEM fluid is a 90 weight.
Allthough Blackstone didn't do a full visosity range check.

Wear levels are high, but it's the first change from new.
A second UOA after the miles mentioned should show a lot less wear IMO.

What oil did you put back in?

Hey, no prob.

They did do a viscocity check, I just didn't have it on the JPEG I posted. The viscocity was 86.9, and the flashpoint was 425.

I decided to try out LE607 this year. I guess we'll find out what my wear is like at 16000 miles.

Thanks!

My dif fluid was trashed at 4k miles.

Since the first change, it always comes out clean (LE607 or Mobil1 is good for this)

For anyone that interested: 86.9 is not cSt.
Most likely in SUS @ 210F
That is well in range of a 90 weight.
IMO the 86.9 SUS corresponds to about 17 cSt. ("eyeballing" it only)
Pretty good.

With LE-607 you'll find less wear.. for sure.
Now go and drive 8000 miles over the weekend and show us

We've been waiting a long time for a UOA of the OEM fill. Thanks for doing this. If someone else would do one, then we'd be able to compare wear metals. But I don't think you have anything to worry about. All of thise numbers will come down significantly now the diff is broken in. I personally think the OEM fill should be replaced by 3-5K miles, in order to get all of this crap out of there. I've always wondered why after market gear manufacturers demand a strict heat cycle and fluid change regimen, while auto manufacturers completely ignore this aspect of new vehicle break-in procedures.
Your viscosity number is SUS viscosity at 210F. It falls within SAE 90 (new 110) parameters of 85-105 (Blackstone's guidelines). I have done 2 UOA's on LE 607 with SUS #'s of 89.4 and 93.4 for comparison.

Replaced the OEM fill at 2300 miles here, didn't do a UOA.. didn't even think about it.

I stick have the OEM tranny fluid in it, changing it this weekend, it has about 13k on it (wanted to change it at 10k but I'm lazy), so if anyone wants me to send it in I will.

This thread needs to be added to the "Oil Journals". Is that possible?
