Default Oil Cap problem

Hi, I don't know what's wrong with me, but its the second time that my Oil cap just disappeared after the oilchange. It doesn't seem awfully hard to just bolt it on, but I did my 3rd oilchange since I got the car couple of weeks ago and I yesterday I realized that my oilcap is gone for the second time. Is this common? I am pretty sure I tightened it up pretty well. Anyone else have this problem?

P.S. Could it have fell somehwere, because I got a weird vibration now coming from the front. I checked but couldn't find it anywhere. If anyone else has experience with this tell me where else to look.

Normally it will fall down and get trapped somewhere on the tranny. Poke around back there with a light.

make sure the gasket/o-ring is on it before you tighten it.

This is what I was going to say. If you find your cap, check for the rubber gasket. The cap can work its way loose and off if you have lost it (the gasket).

Yeah, most likely your oil cap is sitting on top of the transmission. Its wedge between the tranny and the engine. You'll probably need to fish it out with a clothes hanger or something. Be prepared to get frustrated and use alot of swear words before you get it out. Good luck!!

A friend of mine had this happen, it ended up on the other side of the black heat shield up by the top on the shocks.

i thought my engine was gonna explode because the guy who changed my oil dropped the cap and it landed on top of the tranny. It made an awful noise like a diesel engine. He just replaced the cap rather than find the original one without telling me. My mechanic found it after checking everything.

This is VERY common!

Oil cap is hidden in there somewhere, likely pinned against the firewall causing a buzzing noise.
