Default Oil Catch Can Question...

Question about oil catch can.

Wouldn't both the PCV tube and the breather tube need a catch can for the intended purposes.

Most, if not all catch cans are installed on the pcv tube...

but my question is...why not the breather tube as well?

you can actually hook it up either way. there are no correct way of installing a catch can. I've seen people t the pcv and breather hoses together going into a catch tank and cap the original hose on the intake tube for the breather tube...

here is a quick paintshop:

that would create a vacuum at idle in the crankcase, like the krank vents.

so i assume it would make the cluck-cluck-cluck noise as well.

also, i don't like that the crankcase can't relieve pressure if the pcv valve were to close or if the pressue in the manifold is too high.

my breather tube is vented with a breather filter.

the only solution i see is to run TWO catch cans, one for pcv and one for breather.

i don't understand why some people only run catch can on the pcv, and the breather tube doesn't have one...

that illustration would also render the pcv valve useless, as the breather connection provides unrestricted air flow at idle.

what are you going to route into the pcv connector on the intake manifold?

I hope you know the importance of the PCV system before you start playing around... It has to breathe.
