oil change?
just another dumb noob question. i just read the owners manual and it says to change the oil every 7500 miles. im use to changing a cars oil every 3000 miles. i figure i should just do as the manual says, but how many still change the oil after only 3 k miles?
Changing oil more frequently can never hurt. New cars come with a break in oil high in Molybdenum Disulfite. Under temp. and pressure this material fills in fine voids from machining. Leave the break in oil for the recommended mileage.....another change with dino (petroleum base) then go to a synthetic. I like Mobile 1.

P.S. I change mine every 3K

My manual has two schedules for maintenance: the normal schedule and the severe schedule. My dealer told me when I bought the car that I was to always use the severe schedule, which tells you to change the oil at 3750 miles instead of 7500 miles.

Rule #1 Don't always listen to the dealer
Rule #2 Buy a Helm Manual and due what it tells you to do. If you are a severe driver so be it. If not...well you just saved a bunch of money.
