Changing oil more frequently can never hurt. New cars come with a break in oil high in Molybdenum Disulfite. Under temp. and pressure this material fills in fine voids from machining. Leave the break in oil for the recommended mileage.....another change with dino (petroleum base) then go to a synthetic. I like Mobile 1.

P.S. I change mine every 3K

My manual has two schedules for maintenance: the normal schedule and the severe schedule. My dealer told me when I bought the car that I was to always use the severe schedule, which tells you to change the oil at 3750 miles instead of 7500 miles.

No offense...but by following the severe schedule his profits are increased sustantially:
Rule #1 Don't always listen to the dealer
Rule #2 Buy a Helm Manual and due what it tells you to do. If you are a severe driver so be it. If not...well you just saved a bunch of money.

If you change your oil every 3000 you are "wasting money and resources". In the words of RR.

I'd wait at least 5000 to change your oil.

change at 3k miles or 3 months, whichever comes first. 7500 miles is godd for mostly highway miles.
