Default Oil consumption on AP2 S2K's

In a previous thread on UTH, I stated that AP2's do not consume oil. I have 25K miles on my S now and my AP2 has never consumed a drop of oil (even at the race track or while driving on country roads where I can stay in VTEC for 1-2 hours at a time!). Since Wisconsin S2K pointed out that he knows of several AP2's that do consume oil, I'd like to find out what percentage do consume oil. Thanks for your inputs!

Well, I guess I have to disagree. I think this is a valid post and poll. It would be interesting to see what percentage of ap2's out there actually do consume oil.
When you put it this way, I have to say I agree. Even I find myself surprised at the ratio of AP2's that do burn oil vs those that don't. It's higher than I thought it would be.

Wisconsin S2K,
It was not my intent to single you out in a bad way, but to the contrary for correcting my unresearched, absolute statement. It was in error and you were very gracious (for you) in your methodology. Thus, I wanted to research to what extent the AP2 consumes oil for personal reasons (because I own one) and to help other owners who may have noticed what seems to be unusual oil usage to compare with other owners...possibly to use as warranty ammunition if needed. I hope that you will accept my sincere apology.
Am I satisfied? So far so good. I realize that we have only tapped the weekend crowd. Maybe the weekeday crowd will offer more data.
My dogs and I are going to chase some quail around for a few days, so if you need to move this to a different forum (oil journals?) feel free.
Good motoring!

I took your mentioning me specific as something with more malice. So, I apologize for jumping the gun. I have removed any of my posts (and a few others) that were either off topic, or took away from the thread.

I burned a bit less then 1/2 a quart on my first oil change at 7500. I'll be moving to synthetic at ~11000 so we shall see what happens then as well.

I burned quite alot of oil when I changed it at 4,500 miles, the dipstick was down to 2 x's. I'm around 6,000 miles now, and only 1 x is missing. I hope in time she won't burn any oil.

In my local driving, I've not been able to detect that my '04 is using any oil at all. I think it probably is but the amount is insignificant within a normal oil change cycle. I took the car out to California from the Texas Gulf Coast in July of 05 and it definitely used about a half quart on the trip out and another half quart on the way home. I topped it off on both ends of the trip, just cause but it was never dangerously near the low mark.

All things considered, especially when comparing the Ap2's to the early model Ap1's, I'm "very" happy with my car's oil consumption. Some of those poor souls were drinking over a quart in 800 miles or less.

Drive Safe,
Steve R.

About 2 quarts, and stoped around 11k miles, and that's where I'm at right now.
