i have about the same amount of oil consumption in my '03 AP1. I use Mobil 1. I personally think the consumption might be worse with the Mobil 1 but i stocked up on it at a decent price so i have to wait till i finish it to try another oil.

black cloud = cuz you dont vtec enough buildup cuz of carbon build up since our engines run rich.

its like when the old ferraris needed to get the 'italian tuneup'

Of course it is - because it's molecularly matched to the magic metal used exclusively in Japanese engines.

I'm hoping your statement was in jest - because it's wrong.

Castrol GTX is a conventional oil, a good conventional oil - but a conventional oil nonetheless - and as such is inferior to any synthetic oil that's readily available.

The best oil for ANY engine is the one that combines low volatility, friction reduction, longevity, detergent properties, chemical and temperature stability at a reasonable price. Currently the best oil I've found to date with the best of all these characteristics (and more) is Amsoil. Amsoil 10W30 (ATM) has been and still is the best 10W30 available on the market, with perhaps Redline being a close second (Redline quite a bit more expensive).
Castrol GTX doesn't even come close in any of the most critical parameters oils are measured by - except for the fact it's cheaper. In the case of this comparison - you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the post slip, but im sure many s2ki members dont use amosil or redline and dont exp any issues with oil consumption. In researching a bit through older post, do you think it might be an issue related with cylinder 4 banjo bolt problems the older 00-01 s2k experienced. I read in some post that users with this issue did exp excessive oil loss before the problem got worse. Will a leak down test determine this issue?
