i dont regulary push the s to the limit and just shift around 2.5-3k rpms
and one day i hit vtec and it didnt pull like it used to, so i knew i something was wrong,
the next day i changed the oil and went into vtec and it pulled like it should have

I burned about 1/2 quart of Mobil 1 about 2 years ago. Switched to Amsoil and recently to Redline and haven't burned a drop of either.

48K on a MY04, had to top up just twice, adding maybe .25 qt, on a 5K oil change interval. Always been using Mobil1 so I guess YMMV. No reason to not use Mobil1 as my engine still purrs.

IIRC its volatility is higher. I'm sure it has been discussed before.

I was burning Mobil 1 in my 01 (about 1-2 quarts) a oil change not driving it too hard. Just a little spirited driving here and there. When I changed my clogged PCV valve I don't burn anything now. Make sure that's not your problem first.

I've had 3 S2000's, and all 3 burned a quart of M1 every 1500 miles or so.

Mobil dino oil doesn't burn much at all, though.

sure its burning it and not blowing it out? synthetics are very thin and when you hit vtec,it will tend to blow it out of the engine vents.i've learned that pending how hard you drive it will affect how much oil it will use. i used m1 at first and was going through 2 qts between changes. switch to castrol high mileage and it only uses 1 between changes. i have 190k on mine and it uses no more than when i first bought the car 5 years ago.
