Helm manual says 29 and do not overtighten....owner's manual says 33...which is correct? I know this has been discussed before, but dont know if there was ever a solid conclusion. I was thinking of going with 30 lb/ft.

I think your probably safe in between. I've always turned th wrench 1/2 rotation after contact and never had any leaking problems with any of my Hondas. However, I haven't changed the oil in the S yet.

I wonder how many folks really get the torque wrench out for the drain plug! I admit that I do and I used 30 lb-ft.

Seems like last time I did it the torque wrench was set for 29 lbs but I stopped tightening before it even clicked because my torque wrist told me it was tight enough.

What about the oil filter? I think the washer absorbs the seal on the oil plug but keep in mind that the S2K has an _Aluminum_ oil pan. I don't think other Honda's do.

I get the torque wrench out and tighten to 29 as the Helm manuel indicates. I tighten the filter so that it is "hand tight".

I go 30 on the bolt and 16 on the filter.

LOL!

I thought it was actually quite hilarious that people really use a torque wrench on the drain pan bolt!

OK, sure, yea, it needs to be tight...but, ummmm, seriously, it's, ahem...ummm....lol....it's going to be fine if you just make it tight! But always use a new washer....

As for the filter....I have always done my own oil changes (in all my cars, well, OK, except the 4Runner) and always just hand tightened them. I have done about 10 oil changes on Scarlet...always just hand tightened the filters. Never EVER has there been a problem.

I'm kidding, but I thought it was damn funny...! Torquing the oil drain bolt...!! haahahaha lol

Oh, ouch, my stomach hurts from the laughter...!

Ok, so it's not that funny...I've had a few beers...

not so funny when you are using a filter casing that never gets removed(canton- the back of the filter comes off and the element comes out every 15000 miles), and you suck the oil out of the pan from the top of the engine every 3000 miles regardless of the filter element. IE the bolt never comes out either.
