Default Oil Drain Plug Washer

Hi,
I just want to make sure I did right...
I finished my first 6-month oil change today by myself.
When I removed the oil drain plug, I couldn't find the washer anywhere.
Since I bought a new oil filter with a washer,
I added a washer to the plug then screwed.
So far, I don't see any oil leak from the plug after my test drive.
Isn't the washer necessary or something was wrong with my S?

Yeah, it just might have been overlooked at the factory or something. Car still holds oil no harm done. Just keep using them from now on.

Often, the washer will stick to the head of the bolt, or even to the outside of the oilpan.

It might have fallen into the drain pan. Make sure you don't have TWO washers on there or it might start to leak one day.

It sounds everyone has a washer. I'll make sure I have just one not TWO again...
Thanks.

This is a given. Every oil drain and fill bolt on this car uses a washer.
