Default Oil Filter

I had the dealer change my oil last week and use some Moble 1. After reading the Oil Journals (a little late) I went back to ask why the wrong filter was being used, E-15400-PLM-A01. He said that is the only filter they have used for the last 5 years, as if that made it right. After several minutes he shows me a copy of Honda Service News dated April 2004 to prove that he was right.

S2000 Oil Filter: P/N 15400-
PCX-004

When you're talking about oil filters for '00-04
S2000s, American Honda approves only one.
It's P/N 15400-PCX-004, H/C 7523640. You
can use this filter on all models that specify
P/N 15400-PLM-A02, H/C 6663991. Keep this in
mind when ordering.

I handed it back to him to read it again. He then agreed with me. I will be back later in the week after he gets the correct filter in. I looked around for a while and could not find this kind of specific info. Hope this helps someone out.

I read that post, that is how I new I had the wrong filter. The problem was proving it to the dealer.

Expecting counter jockies to know this stuff is asking too much. They're behind the counter for a reason. It's like asking Best Buy clerks for computer advice. They work around computers but, not on them (most of the time).

Thanks to the post though, I was able to verify that my Honda dealer gave me the right ones.
