no it won't explode.

fram is a leader because of marketing, price, availability, and our stupidity.

So what you are saying is that my car will explode in a fiery blaze if I use FRAM.

I understand that it's not "the best" filter out there. In terms of internal materials used. But I've put well over 150,000 miles on various cars/trucks while using them and never seen a problem yet. So have hundreds of thousands of other drivers. The fact that they are leaders in the filter manufacturing game has to say something no?
Its not entirely correct that I'm saying Frahm is not the best filter. What I am saying is that they are the worst. But you are right in that your car will not erupt in a fiery blaze. If that is your concern, continue using the orange can.

as bad as cardboard end caps sound and look, I've yet to see a documented case where the Fram parts had failed or caused issues. Metal end caps certainly look much nicer and provide greater peace of mind. I know in the past Honda had Fram construct some of their oil filters, they rolled out of a Fram manufacturing plant that is 20 minutes down the road from my home. I'm pretty sure they had the cardboard end caps in them. I prefer to run the Honda filter on my S2K simply for the fact that I know that it will flow the proper rate of oil that engine requires.

Fram + ; Fram -

there are both opinions, but there are several threads that have pictures of disassembled filters and the Fram filters don't show up very well.

Its the easiest thing to find on google. At best, the cardboard flexes a little and distorts the media pleats. At worst, the cardboard tears and the pleats collapse. It still baffles me that people buy these when they know what th filters are made of. Metal doesn't distort and collapse the media. Plus, frahm uses poorly fitting, stiff rubber anti drainback valves. Rubber shrinks and hardens ith prolonged oil contact.

Most studies and forums ive seen seem to be #1 HONDA OEM and there is the cheaper mobil 1 (but i think it IS the oem filter). Then Purolator PUREONE (best value) or K&N (also expensive) with similar results. FRAM is the poorest quality with the exception of FRAM2X (their "stronger filter").

I go with Mobil 1 or Purolator PUREONE. If you really want OEM, then I would check to see if Mobile 1 is the same filter. I have heard Honda just uses the Mobile 1 filter as their OEM filter, of course without "Mobile 1" on it.
