Default Oil Pan Problems w/ S2000 ?

I just had my oil changed at the local "oil change garage" (to avoid naming them) and I ended up leaking oil after it got home. I took it back in and they said that after enough oil changes one of the plugs strips and it's a very common problem with the S2000. I can't find any posts of people discussing this here.

Is this a common problem with our cars and do I need to just buy a new oil pan? Or do you think this shop has been negligent when changing the oil and they should foot the bill?

Thanks for any advice here.

its a aluminum pan so it strips easier (the pan) they should have told you as soon as they took it out, theres really no way to strip it taking it out, if it was a big name oil stop or somthing i gaurantee if you complain to corprate enuf theyll buy your oil pan for you if not it may be not worth it...

It only strips if its been over tightened. Did it leak oil before the oil change? If not then they stripped it, make them fix it.

Actually read your post. Your pan is stripped because an oil changing place is run by fools who constantly over tighten your bolt. So yeah, it strips and when they strip it and catch it they run a bigger bolt without telling you.

You should get your pan changed, and they wont pay for it and you should learn. NEVER USE A CHANGER.

Go to your dealer if you're unable. They charge the same amount and you can jump up and down if they strip it.

true. if torqued to specs then it shouldn't strip and shouldn't leak.

I've had one place, on an old Accord, not put the crush washer on. I guess they must not see many Hondas here in California.

For all you know, they left the crush washer out, saw leaking and figured it needed more torque - many are idiots!

ehh seems like it failed due to the oil changer there at the place you went. i would gladly take it back and give em a run for their money.

im sure they stripped it out before and then pulled the threads out.

you can time-sert the hole. drill the hole bigger, tap the hole, insert and then you should be golden.

I thought they'd be reputable and much cheaper than the dealership so that's why I use such a place. I've never had a problem before and this particular garage has been doing my oil changes for about 2 years now. They did have new workers this time though. I will try to get them to fix it and, if they do, take my business elsewhere in the future.

The suspicious part is the guy telling me that it's a common problem with S2000's but, seriously, how many S2000's can they get in there? Especially in upstate NY? We'll see what happens. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't really a common problem with our cars before I went in bitching like I had a solid case. Thanks!
