Default oil pan removeal

I'm changing my oil pan tomorrow and I'm trying to find a write up for it. I know it's pretty straight forward, but this will be the first time that I change one that uses rtv and not a gasket. So any tips or pics would be sweet.

i don't believe there is a write up. It's not a common task. You can look at the banjo oil bolt upgrade DIY in the FAQ...it may give some instructions. I do know that there is an tightening order recommended in the Helms Service Manual. It might be worth picking up a copy or asking in your regional s2ki forum to borrow one from a local.

This task is straight forward. Nothing special at all. You do have to remove the A/C commpressor from the motor, as it mounts to the oil pan, but after that it is unbolt the pan and drop it.

- Remove front lower tie bar
- Disconnect A/C compressor from engine
- Remove bolts from transmission to oil pan 2 14mm bolts
- Remove 10mm bolts in a criss-cross pattern off the oil pan in 2 steps
- Make sure all bolts are removed holding on the pan
- Pry on the passenger side closest to the rear of the motor ( there is a notch to get in a flathead screwdriver) and work around since there are dowels and hondabond holding it in
- Remove oil pan from car

Just enough to get a thin line on the lip of the pan, you dont need to use too much as most of it will come out the sides. It really is there to fill imperfections.

Drain engine oil before dropping the pan too!
Remove all old gasket from the engine - and oil pan if you are using that one again - and de-grease with a cloth.
Becarefull not to scratch/groove the relatively soft aluminum while removing the old gasket.
There are 2 dowel pins too that you need again.
They might be stuck in the pan (IIRC)
