Default oil pressure gauge

Is it possible to use the stock oil pressure sender when installing a mechanical oil pressure gauge?

A mechanical oil pressure gauge is mechanical, no sending unit. The factory is an electric gauge.

Would I then use a T connector at the stock sending unit and run a tube to the gauge?

Thanks

if you plan to run an oil pressure gauge, i'd suggest getting your hands on an oil filter adapter. greddy is what i use. it makes the job of installing it much, much simpler. simply screw off your oil filter, screw the adapter onto the block, screw the oil filter back on. the greddy comes with two 1/8" slots and another one to run an oil line elsewhere. i use it to run my defi oil pressure gauge, and after having no luck finding the parts i needed around town for a T, i went with the greddy.

Do as wortham has indicated or mount the sender remotely if you are going to "T" into the existing oil pressure outlet. Having two senders on the same port near the top of the engine may be too much weight and the engine's vibration may cause you some grief.
