I buy 6 qts for the engine and use about 5.5 qts.
I buy 2 qts for the transmission and use about 1.8 qts.
I buy 1 qt for the differential and use about 0.9 qt.

Of greater importance is the type of oil that you use. Make CERTAIN that you use Honda-specificed transmission lube (NOT GL-rated oil). You should use GL-rated oil in the differential, and be careful because Honda dealers have been known to sell the wrong stuff to S2000 owners.

All of this information - and much more - is located in the Under the Hood FAQ.

I'm pretty sure the manual states (I don't have one) 5.2 quarts with a filter change, 4.7? without. However, everyone seem to need different amounts. There was a threat about this before.. some people are able to fill 6qt before they see the line at the top of the XXs Mine takes 5.1-5.2 after a 20 min drain on level ground. I fill to 5 qt, then run the checks, and then always fill up a little more since I generally have 1 X of space on the dip stick after 5 qt.

5 quarts is fine. that will get you to the "full" mark.

1.8 quarts for tranny (so 2... duh)

and .9 for diff (so 1... duh)

this info is in your owner's manual.....

dont ask what the maintenance light is and how to make it go away, or i'll slap you.

thanks for the info because when im reading other peoples posts they all given me like these 5.(something) factors and im like what the heck what im understanding now its not an exact science but its just common sense ie: if its a little low after 5qt add a lil more. im not really experianced with cars *shocker* to know that there is more play when in comes with fluids and regular maintence. but thanks for the help

This is the last year of the S2000, by the way.

I've done an oil change on over 300 s2k's.

It took barely shy of 6 qts to reach the full mark. This included a filter change too, and was allowed to drip out over an hour.

My car gets 6 at oil change, so do all my customers.

Do you own and check it. Put five in, start it for 10 seconds, shut it down, wait a min, then check it. see how much it takes to reach the full mark.

lol that's so odd. i do the same procedure with mine, and it never takes more than 5 to get it on the full mark.
