Default Oil temp sensor placement

I'm looking to tap my oil pan to fit a temperature sensor and I'm trying to figure out were it could be mounted.
I would like to mount it on the drivers side for the easiest cable routing but I'm not sure if it would be submerged enough.
Here is were I'm thinking it could be placed, this is with around 2 liters of fluid but maybe it's much more during operation?

any reason you are opposed to simply using the drain plug with an adapter for the sensor?

Canton pan works great for me... I'm utilizing the extra hole for a sensor on drive side and all.

Here is where I mounted mine; seems to work fine. During operation, even if not completely submerged at all times, the amount of fresh, hot oil flowing down over it will be constant.

Don't like to mess with a sensor on oil change and I got the pan down now so was thinking of doing it right.
Nice one Jason, was thinking about putting it there as well but wasn't sure it would clear the dipstick.

My sensor only sticks in the pan a could millimeters. My bung was turned down on the end to fit a smaller hole and welded on both sides. To give an idea where the dipstick lands, you can see the opening for the dipstick in this pic.
