LC,

Oil consumption for new engines is not unusual (although my S2K didn't burn a drop to my surprise). However, my car had 10K miles on it when I suddenly consumed a lot of oil - hence my personal investigation into breather tube issues.

It seems quite common for many people to burn a lot of oil to start and gradually taper off over time and that wouldn't worry me if I were a new owner.

BTW, would that exotic be a Porsche (12 quarts) or a large displacement Ferrari?

Well, if spirited driving is the number 1 culprit after break-in, then I'm going to use a lot of oil when spring gets to Michigan. But with two MGs in the garage I already invested in an oil well, and know the routine well.

The other car is a Jaguar - XK 140, also a roadster. And, also a heck of a lot of fun. Both cars (the Jag and the S2K) makes stops for gas a lengthy process because of all the attention and questions. The shy need not apply for membership in either of these clubs.

Nope, I just resigned myself to topping up the oil after track days.

That said, now that I've got an AEM on and have removed the hard lines, a catch tank would be a piece of cake.

true. How bad is the burning oil on the engine, o2 sensor, cat etc?

My temporary fix for this is a K&N breather mounted on the fender:

I am going to replace that with a catch can. My biggest fear was that the Comptech kit was sucking on that breather pre-blower which I would think can't be good for the blower. If you went through a quart of oil - that's a lot of oil to suck through all of the intake parts, no?
