Default Overfilled water bottle?

After picking up my car 2 weeks ago I noticed a drip at the rear of the front drivers wheel, took it back to the garage and they told me that it was due to them overfilling the water bottle and nothing to worry about.

2 weeks later it is still dripping and I think it is possibly getting worse

Anyone else had this problem? What was it? Water bottle overfilled?

Don't want to look a total muppet when I call the garage again.

Thanks in advance.

Are you sure it is water?

I know you are in the UK but over here, across the pond, I have heard of the Brake and Clutch cylinders leaking. So check the fluid to make sure you don;t have a leak.

I would verify what kind of fluid it is first. I usually identify by smell, color, or as a last resort taste (burnt GL-5 is the worst).

If it is washer fluid, your bottle is probably cracked. Overfilling the wash fluid would probably leave enough liquid to drip for a day at best.

Do not taste it. Ethylene Glycol is sweet to the taste, but is considered a poison.

It is possible that that they are correct. If the overflow bottle was overfilled, it will spill some coolant after spirited runs. When you turn your engine of after a good drive on a warm day, the bottle will spill a little until it is no longer overvilled.

If the drip is clear water, then it's just your Air Conditioner condensate. That's normal, and you will see this drip every time you use your A/C.

It depends how hard you drive it. If you drive it really hard one day and the coolant tank was overfilled, the hotter it gets, the more the fluid expands, the more water will leak.

I second it being AC condenser run off. Touch it after you park and see if it's cold.

Thanks for the replies.

Have had a few different people have a look / sniff / taste at the dripping stuff and it definatley seems like it is water.

Am thinking that it is likely that there may be a crack in the water bottle. If it was overfilled I would imagine that it would have stopped by now.

Does the A/C drip in this spot as well? I've never turned it on since getting the car. Too bloody cold

If you ever turn your heat settings to defrost or defog (where it blows on the windshield), the A/C turns on automatically. If it does, you will have water dripping in that area.
