Started to change my master clutch cylinder on my 2006. I could not pull the mcc out because a fuse box and the DBW throttle cable controller are fastened to the fender in front of the mcc. I disconnected both from the fender and tried to move them out of the way. Still not enough room. I did not see any harness connectors close by that I could disconnect. SO, I put it back together and will have my mechanic take look when I have my clutch replaced next week. All of the DIY instructions that I found are for non DBW cars; plenty of room to pull out the mcc.

I'd need to go look at my car, but I think you should be able to get it off with just unbolting the small fuse box and moving it out of the way. I didn't disconnect anything when I did mine.

It was a few years ago, but I changed mine on my '06 and recall it was pretty easy. Didn't even consult a diy. Just took apart what made sense.

You didn't try hard enough. Just treat the MC removal asa Tetris puzzle. Turn and twist it the right way as you lift.

I only needed to unbolt the secondary fuse box from the fender and I was able to get my paws in there enough to undo the flare nut and remove the MC.

I appreciate the replies. As I noted, I did unscrew the fuse box, popped the harness tie down out of the sheet metal and unscrewed the DBW controller. My Tetris skills got the mcc out and under the harness, but I could not stretch the harness enough to pull the mcc up, out and over the fuse box. I was not willing to compromise the integrity of the harness and incur unforeseen problems. Cheers to all who succeeded in removing their DBW car’s mcc.

As I recall, I didn't remove anything other than the cmc itself. Didn't loosen anything. Just removed fluid, removed line, unbolted, and Tetris.

The reconnection of the fluid line was the most difficult step for me.

Hope this helps!

Unclip the fuse box from the bracket, push it down and then pull out the CMC.

The solution to removing my MCC; remove the fuse box from the harness. Make sure to disconnect battery first.

@ES2K , trying to do this and it's a PITA on my 08. When you say remove the fuse box from the harness, do you mean unscrewing the 2 blue bolts in your picture? As circled in red below?
