Default Pinch Weld Lifting - General and Quickjack

Bear with me as I baby my S. This is both a general and jack specific issue, I always use the centerline jacking points for lifting the S, but I recently got a Quickjack 5000TL that lifts on the sides and may use it on the S.

Generally, is anyone side lifting the horizontal bodywork next to the pinch weld using pinch weld adapters

For my other cars, I lift from the side using notched hockey pucks so the pinch weld free floats in the notch and all the weight is taken up by the horizontal bodywork. I have always done this as the area around the pinch weld is usually a strong part of the car and it avoids potentially mangling the pinch weld. Below is a photo from online showing the concept.

I would definitely prefer that over lifting directly on the pinch weld, but anyone have problems with the S this way? I'd rather ask first than put a dent into my pristine car.. I see other posts where there appear to be rocker, horizontal bodywork damage but can't tell if that's from hitting something or lifting in front of the front lift point.

Also, it seems like the Quickjack can't reach both jacking points due to the collapsed parallelogram shape, so it looks one of the contact points will be off. Any Quickjack users comment?

Search showed a lot of general QJ discussion but not much on lifting around the pinch weld.

Thanks!

For my Quickjack I use a 10" length of notched 1" plywood at the four corners. I also covered the plywood with carpet. Works for me.

Thanks, Rod. Just to be clear for my dense self, are you lifting on the rocker panel around the pinch weld with the notched plywood? Or are you still lifting on the pinch weld itself with the notch?

the body panel is just sheet metal, and not structural. I do what Honda suggests, and lift at the approved jack points. On my '06, the previous owner punctured the rear quarter when lifting incorrectly.

My QuickJack lifts just fine at the extreme ends of the unit without the EXT unit.

The factory jack is designed to lift at the reinforced pinch welds in rocker. They are easy to find, visually or by feel.

Its not a bad idea to use something soft enough and that distributes weight enough to avoid scratching off paint in this area.

Lifting at these jack points will not cause damage.
