Default Please Help Aem Ems Question

HI I recently plugged in the EMS for my S2000 and my thermostat guage on the cluster doesn't move, it only stays at on car. I called AEM and the said that the EMS can not send a signal to the dash, so it won't work. I wanted to ask all the EMS users if thats true?
so our cars will need read water temp.,
Thanks

yes that is true
it's the only downside to having the aem ems
however you can set it so that the CEL comes on at 115 degrees celcius.

You can also monitor engine temp. with your laptop, which I did until I got a good feeling for what sorts of temperatures I'm actually running, but note that the ECT calibrations are probably wrong. Check out the AEM forums for more info on the subject.

This is a long discussion that requires you to wade through a lot of technical stuff about the sensor.

The Helm's manual says "80-100 degrees C", but there's a lot of discussion about whether the stock sensor calibrations are correct. See:

so far, when warm, mine tends to stay within 3 degrees of 190F whenever I happen to look at it. This of course assumes that the calibation is correct. I'm using the OOTB cal for coolant temp.

BTW, you'll be a hero if you get the OEM temp gauge working. Its hooked up to a PWM output which it shares if you decide to use a boost solenoid (which I am), so I went "snip" at the recommendation of gilbertg. (It will screw up your boost solenoid if you leave it wired; read: boost creep)

Jahwerx, what do you mean the "00TB" calibration? Are you talking about Westy's measured temperatures? Or something else? How about posting them so we can take a look? This question remains (in my mind) unresolved, so I'd love to see what you're using and to compare the calibrations to the others I've seen/used. Thanks. And thanks for giving credit to Giles who's done a lot of work and has been gracious about sharing his info with the community.

Best,

ootb - out of the box, so I have not done ANY special work on the temp sensor voltage curve.

My tuning was based on a map that UL started with, so he may have some insight into this.

I don't have my laptop handy right now, but I can get the information posted this weekend.
