Default Please help: having problem with my comptech supercharger

i have had my comptech supercharger for about 3500 miles and there is a new noise that i hear that sounds very loud when you put your ear to the inake box. it is a loud high pitch sound that only seems to happen when i get on my car and then it stays for a while, sometimes goes away and sometimes not. today i took the elbow going form the charger to the intake off and i noticed this black liquid that looked like some sort of black lub (don't think it looks like oil from my car). then i took off the elbow going from the charger to the intake manifold. there was sprits in this black lub inside the elbow up till a little after the 90 degree bend.

i have no clue what is going on or if this is normal or not. the car is not driven in the rain and i changed the oil at about 1,500 miles ago. does this sound like a problem and does anybody know what it is.

thanks

I know you mentioned that it doesn't appear to be oil from your car but could it possibly be the comptech filter oil that you use to lube the filter with. Maybe you put just a tad too much on the filter and it got sucked up into the tubing along with some dirt which makes it appear black?

I have seen that on my charger before. In my opinion, It's oil. I think it's from the PVC vaule return line. You can put a filter at the end of the PVC line and cap off the other end. I have heard the sound you have mention on my car. I also have heard it on other super charged s2000. So I don't think you have anything to worry about. The sound is louder when the car is being warm up. I hope this can put your mine to rest....

sorry payyourtoll and S2KenC i mentioned that it is not oil but found out it is (i feel like a dumbass). don't think it is the oil that i sprayed on the filter. there is a little bit that spritted on the elbow going from the charger to the inake manifold and a little where the elbow meets the charger. is it normal to have a little bit of oil in there, if it is does anybody know what the loud noise is that comes every now and then. the car runs great so i am very confused. if is not i will call comptech and see if they know

thanks a lot

the only thing on mine that got louder only when I 'stepped on it' was the fuel pump. but if you are sure it's a sound coming from the front, rule this out.

its definitely not the fuel pump. when i put my ear to the carbon fiber intake lid the seemed to be loudest there. it is not there all the time and comes and goes. is there anybody else that this happens to

This just an idea, so don't panic just yet. That oil may be coming from the supercharger bearing lubrication channels. As you know, your S/C takes oil from your engine to keep its bearing lubed up and to help keep it cooler. If the bearing seals are deteriorating, the black goo you see "might" be oil that has been cooked through an ultra high speed bearing.
That "may" also account for the noise you hear - bearing noise.
