Default Please help with Spark Plugs!

By searching around s2ki.com I found this....

The Honda manual says:

"Do not adjust the gap or platinum tip plugs; replace the spark plug if the gap is out of specification

Electrod Gap:
Standard (New): 1.0 1.1 mm (0.039-0.043 in.)
Service Limit: 1.3 mm (0.015 in.) "

Now what I did is buy stock plugs for S2000. They are NGK Rs that are used from the factory. One problem tho. On the NAPA Parts Store receipt it says the "these plugs are .044 pregapped. So in reality this is telling me they are over HONDA required gap distance. HMMMM

I do not want to adjust them like said the manual. But If I run bigger gap there might be some problems. Now on the other hand I heard my idle and low end might imporve from bigger gap. OR should I jsut throw the plugs in, and stop being so anal.

The receipt is not telling you what the gap is out-of-the-box.* It is telling you what the recommended gap is. .044" is approximately 1.1mm. Just gap them to .043 and you'll be fine as long as you're not boosting.

*I'm a NAPA dude, so I know how to read my own invoices

You can adjust the gap of our plugs. Closing the gap is easier than widening it.

The platinum coating is thin, and fragile.

Hence why gapping is not recommended.

What part# plug did you get? Read it right of the plug itself.

they dont want you to gap it because the electrodes are super fine and they dont want you to snap the tip. to close the gap look at the above pic. just be gentle.

*Keeps looking @ VAD and mumbling to him self as I reach in to my pocket and re-reads the invoice..... looks back up* Shut up dude, I knew that. LOL

Bill man, this is them. Part Number: PFR7G-11S
http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/products/spar...r_platinum.asp#

Honestly, back in my H22A1 Prelude I thru my Iradiums in and was more satisfied with them then gapped Platinum, or Copper plugs that I would switch out every month. Cold starts were amazing also. That was back in Boston.

Now with my new S2000 in warm Arizona climate my S2000 starts like a diesel truck, It strugles and keeps turning over 4 times and at times dies. A quick step on the throttle gets her going. This is with tempetures of 20f to 35f. Back in Boston my Prelude started in temps of -20f like a charm. Has to be the plugs, in the worst case Fuel Pressure Regulator, which im sure on 04 S2K should be fine. God I don't know why shes acting like that.... That's my only S2000 complaint.

The PFR7G-11S is the correct plug. Make sure the gap is 1.1mm or ~.043" and you'll be good to go.

i wouldn't mind running a little bigger gap, it'll have a bigger spark.

No, just burnt coils. Gap should be at the minimum of the range. But should not be adjusted, only checked.

Is 1.1mm the minimum range?
