Default Popping noise from diff

My car has 102k on it. Immaculate maintenence history. I drive the car spirited from time to time. I have never launched in at the track. Here's the issue. When ever I back my car into the garage for the night, the next day when I go to take it out the diff makes a brief pop sound upon first movement forward. It doesn't do this any other time which I find weird. If I reverse in to a parking spot at school, I come out and drive home, no issue. What could cause this?

maybe because its been sitting and theres no fluid to lubricate it or maybe its the brakes sticking?. it gets worst in winter. i remember coming back from deployment and it was 20 outside and it was starting to snow. i picked up my car from my friends house. i tried to take off and i heard this LOUD thump. i was wtf? but then i was like, oh the car must have been sitting here for a week without moving and it was 20 outside. so parts were stuck.

lol how could you miss this billman??? The popping sound is due to axle nuts that require re-torquing. Do a search on axle nut retorquing and it'll show the proper procedure and force required to tighten the nut. I had the same issue and now it's fixed

OK. I thought my diff was starting to go. Is this dangerous to be driving with it like that?

Last time I had this popping noise I found a loose bolt on one of the control arms. Not finger loose, but it took about 1/2 turn to make it fully right. My popping noise has not returned since. Go over all the control arm bolts and make sure they're tight.

I don't miss much

He said his noise is only first thing in the morning. Axle nut issues will cause a single metallic ping, in foward and reverse, every time.

Of course all internet noises are guesses without a sound clip.

But axle nuts are just as good a guess.

It's not that it happens first thing in the morning. It ONLY happens when I reverse the car into the garage and it sits over night. I can reverse it into a spot anywhere else (work or school) and it does NOT do it. I have listened for it many times and nothing. I guess because it sits for so long over night which is the only thing I can think of. Generally, I reverse the car into the garage after washing it if that means anything.

I drive my car on the weekend and everytime I pull it out the first time I get a pop it normally is the brakes welding to the rotors due to a small amount of rust, totally normal. After the initial pop I do not hear it anymore.
