Default Port & Polish worth it?

well i just got back from my second automotive diagnostic.

i have low compression in cylinder #2 most likely due to bent valves.

since im going to have to do a topend rebuild, new valves and machine work done, i was thinking about port and polish.

with all new 16 valves, and re-machine head work and port and polish, would this give me some HP and TRQ gain? how much am i looking at here?

since the topend rebuild is pretty labor intensive, how much usually more is port & polish (i was quoted maybe around $700 more)..

or should i just get new valves, re-machine my head and work from there.

all in all im looking around $2000 (w/o port & polish) for parts and labor.

It's pretty easy to actually hurt airflow if the head is ported by someone without a flowbench. Alaniz has shown good documented gains, but it will take several months to get a head back from him.

have someone just clean them but if u actually port them its not worth it the s2000 heads are near perfect from the factory i dont suggest touching them that extensive

With good headwork you can gain considerable power. The exhaust flow with the factory head is rather restricted.

uhm, LOL. first off, i dont intend to upset anyone. and alaniz is reputable, but he isnt the end of days.
there are many, (better in my opinion) people out there to do the job. and will get it done in a timely fashion. port flow design, AEBS, to name a few. i spoke with the guys at indy cylinder heads, and they would like to see the stock flow numbers, and modded numbers, and then have my head. to see what they could do. so many options exist. either of the 2 i suggested, kick ass. so try that out.
laters and id say def P&P, youll enjoy the extra flow. *whispers* (get a J"s header too) late.

of course if u bore out the head its gonna get good gains but if u ask anybody witha flow bench u will see that the s2000 heads are very good flowing heads. even ask inline pro, my machine shop j&b performance even said its good and he hold world records. check him out nhra pro stock engine builder, for jim yates barry grant.
