some insurance company COVERS water related damage(read: hydrolock) under the premium
This would be covered under "Road Hazzard". The damage was NOT caused by collision, therefore, does NOT go againts your driving record. Being that the vehicle was in motion when the motor injested water, it is classified a "Road Hazzard".

B16A, do you have full coverage

This kind of incident will fall under your Comprehensive coverage. You will just have to pay your deductable if you have one. It's the same kind of thing if you hit a deer, a tree falls on your car, hail damage, etc.... Basically anything not dealing with another vehicle because that would fall under your Collision coverage. Hopefully you do have Comp and Collision.

Yeah but his intake was not stock, when you talk to your insurance, don't mention you had aftermarket CAI and if they want to see the car get a stock air box before they see it or they will deny your claim.

You would have had to try to ford a river before you could hydrolock with the stock airbox.

Thank you for all the replies guys. I will contact insurance company today, its Geico if that makes a difference. I have heard stories that they do cover under comp. I do have full coverage, so hopefully Geico covers this under comp as well. This is not a fun experience, but at least I learn whats not to do if that ever happen again. I am in Seattle, CAI should be banned in Washington State period.
