Default Is it possible to undo the Km-mls conversion?

Hi,

I have just bought an S2000 (today) but I live in Ireland and I need to change the speedeo of the car back to kms. It is a JDM so it has been converted from kms to miles already and I am wondering if anybody know how to undo this change.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance
Caroline

There should be a button next to the trip button, press and hold it until the selection changes to km. At least that is how it is on my 2002.

US spec clusters have a button that switches from Km's to miles. I'd imagine most euro spec clusters would be in Km's or have the ability to switch.

Not the jap one I'm afraid. I had an FTO before that went from japan to England and then to Ireland and there was a "box" wired into the car that converted the signal going to the speedo to miles instead of kilometers. Once we removed this it went back to kilometers. I would assume something similar has been done to the S2000 I just dont know where it is or what it is? Has anybody else had any experience with this?

In my German (European) manual they show 2 clusters, one with only km/h and therefore no selection (SEL) button (and it doesn't show mph) and one with the mph or km/h and the SEL button.

Are you (kaskade) saying that your JMD cluster shows only mph?
With no SEL button?

Btw.. how do you know your speedo is reading in km/h?
Have you driven next to another (km/h) car and compared speeds?

Maybe someone installed a Yellow Jacket or Yellow Box to correct your speedo signal?
The Jacket looks like this:

It's the yellow thing out of focus on the left.

I have had this problem in the past with other cars. When the car is built in Japan it only has KMs and when it comes to the UK it is converted to show Miles.

At the moment my car reads in miles. I know this for definate as I have compated it to the speedo on my GPS.

In a pervious FTO that I had there was a small black box wired into the signal that was sent from the wheels to the speedo and this converted the signal from kms to miles. Once we removed this box the car started reading in KMs again. Something similar must have been done to the S2000. It was not replaced with a UK cluster because it doesnt let me swap between kms and miles.

@SpitfireS thanks for the picture, I'll take a look tomorrow and see if that is what was done.

Thanks!
