I’m interested in replacing my radiator and possibly all hoses how would I go about getting all hoses for my 06 S2K Honda dealership? And is Amazon a good place to buy a Koyo radiator ?
Buy the Koyo thru a reputable dealer in person or online. There's plenty of good sponsors on the S2KI marketplace that sell radiators. That way, you know you're getting an authentic one with customer support if needed.
Try bernardiparts.com or similar sites for oem honda parts.
Nothing wrong with oem radiator. Except its plastic and eventually it'll leak just like original. Koyo is an upgrade in cooling capacity, and likely durability.
I don't think you can go wrong either way. Oem has better fitment.
I painted my koyo black (just the tanks, not the fins) for a stealth oem look. Used SEM Trim Black. Meant to paint directly on bare metal, including aluminum. No primer necessary. Has held up perfectly.
Not sure what you're asking. Modern plastic end tank radiators all eventually fail the same way. Joint between plastic end tanks and aluminum core leaks (unless plastic end tank cracks first). All those heating and cooling cycles of materials with very different expansion rates eventually takes its toll. Its a good solution for mass production, but it has its limits.
An all aluminum radiator with proper welded seems and a core equal in quality to oem is not ever going to have this issue (nor cracked end tanks). It'll be the core itself that eventually leaks. Constant water passing through eventually wears it thin (reference Grand Canyon). But like that famous wonder of the world, it takes a really long time.
I was conflicted on whether or not to go with Koyo for my AP1 because I wanted to preserve its original look under the hood.
But...the Koyo made total sense. I thought about painting it black. But ended up leaving it in its polished aluminum state. Looks pretty cool even though it maybe looks slightly out of place.
