Default Power Steering Whine

The usual "whine" of the power steering has changed to a much more noticeable louder "whine".

Not sure if temperature has anything to do with it. Any input would be appreciated.

No, he's talking about the wine you drink silly. Power steering wine. It's pretty good stuff.

FYI, we do not have a power steering pump, it is electric. Sometimes you have to read through the sarcasm.

oh i did, that's why i ignored it; not constructive.

regardless of the construction of the car, there is now a fairly loud whine everytime i move the wheel, even stationary, and i want to know if anyone can diagnose it.

thanks though

No EPS light?

There's a huge trouble-shooting section in the manual for EPS. I saw no mention of whining. Did you change anything on the car before the whine started? What's the chance it's the alternator? EPS seems to need lots of current to work. It looks friken complicated.

Maybe get someone to turn the wheel while you listen up front. Perhaps you can localize the sound to either the rack or the controller box.

Aftermarket stereo system? Bad ground? Where is the whine coming from? Do you have any modifications to the car? Has the car ever been in an accident? Are you the original owner?

I suspect more information will be needed before you can get a useful response. You can't just say: "I hear a noise... what is it?" Unless you want xviper to whip out the crystal ball.

BTW... there is no "usual whine of the power steering". Any whine is unusual in the S2000.
