anyone know whether the Mugen (dual) exhaust that was made for the pre-'04's will fit on an '04????

we have a local owner here in toronto that is selling one, but i'm not sure if it will fit my inbound '04.

if i could confirm this (somehow), i would commit to the purchase....

any help would be appreciated.

I don't think you are going to find anyone who has actually tried it, but I would be surprised if it didn't fit. The chassis is the same, and the '04 rear bumper fits the '00-'03. The exhaust input and outputs are probably in the exact same place and configuration.

I know the '04 S2k they had at the SEMA show was outfitted with all the pre-'04 Mugen parts.

The previous Mugen S2000 exhaust will not fit the 2004 USDM S2000. There is a new version of the Mugen exhaust designed for the 2004 USDM S2000 that will be available shortly. The exhaust hangars on the 04 S200 are in different locations...

 

Look in the Talk Forum under "Spugen" - Duc at Team Spugen has their pre-04 installed on a MY04 and he says it fits perfectly.

Presumedly exhaust length and diameter of the old design exhaust would not match the flow characteristics of the new engine anyway..

If you are going to pay for mugen, you might as well get the one which is conceivably properly tuned for the 2.2l

 

I don't think Mugen will make one especially tuned for the 2.2l engine, cause only the U.S. market is getting the 2.2l engine. Since Mugen is Japanese and Japan is still getting the 2.0l engine, it woudn't make sense that they would make an exhaust tuned espeically for the 2.2l engine when the rest of the market has the 2.0l engine.
