Default Pricing for valve-adjustment and TCT replace?

So after looking at a few vids on YT of bad TCT, which mine is starting to sound like but not there. From what I hear its actually a fairly easy replacement for a DYI'er which is me. I also am looking to replace the valve-cover gasket at the same time. So what are we looking at here? Oh and would I need a valve-adjustment at 97,600 miles?

If its your first time id say you could do it all in about 6 hours time. Its all straight forward. I just did a VA on mine last week with 85k. You can do a VA whenever you want, it isnt really mileage specific and why not do one if your gonna have the cover off anyways....

Question, is it timing related? Like removing the timing chain and all that? Cause I have nightmares of timing related jobs since my last car. Not my fault, just fixing a mechanics error.

I've done both myself. You're probably looking at about 2 hours.

Granted, I've been working on cars for a long time. A TCT can be done by a "first timer" but a valve adjustment shouldn't as there is some precision necessary.

I do most things on my car myself but I don't like to do the valve timing. I would rather have someone else do it. It is simple but if you slightly mess up you could be dropping a lot of cash on the car.

Billman, from Arizona

I rebuilt my 540i motor but that's different. Anyhow I think I will do TCT myself since its an easy looking job and than have a shop do the valve-adjustment

Hey AZ, you should post this stuff in the local forum

I do valve adjustments on weekends and I'll come to your house. PM me for details.
SOS also does them locally.

Haven't done TCT but sounds like a simple DIY.
