Problem with 15w 50 oil??
There could be, because the flow rate of the oil through the engine will be diminished, which could affect the cooling capacity. You will also lose power due to pumping losses. Third, Honda does not recommend this heavy weight oil. Why do you think you need it? I would recommend a top-tier synoil in 10w30, or 5w40 tops for very heavy use in hot climates.

According to Honda, their recomendations are as follows (for 00-03):
Ambient Temps of -20 degrees F or lower to 100 degrees F or higher: 5W-40
Ambient Temps of 0 (or just below) degrees F to 100 degrees F or higher: 10W-30
Ambient Temps of -20 degrees F or lower to 100 degrees F or higher: 5W-40
Ambient Temps of 0 (or just below) degrees F to 100 degrees F or higher: 10W-30
15W50 will not give you better protection because of what Road Rage said. Especially in a very tightly toleranced engine. Follow what the owners manual states. Plain and simple. Honda engineers know more than you do.

Actually the W in 15W50 dose not stand for weight, it stands for the Winter rating. There is a greater range between the 15 to 50 vs. 10 to 30 which implies a longer molecule chain and molecules that might be slightly larger (50 vs. 30). The molecule chain reacts to temperature changes by either un-coiling or coiling up. So build tolerances come into play here and size does matter. Also, oil rated at 50 provides greater resistance then an oil rated at 30.
If you are worried about protecting your engine, do what many on this board do. Change from a natural petroleum based oil and use a quality synthetic oil after the break in period. Mobil1 10w30 is a good synthetic oil, while oils like Amsoil and Red Line 10w30 would provide even greater protection.
I knew THAT! Let me rephrase what I said: There's a bigger difference between say Mobil 1 10W30 and 15W50, besides their Winter rating. There's a specific reason why Mobil 1 15W50 is labelled as being for Performance applications, and it doesn't have to do with the winter rating.
