Default problem with the 2nd gear

Hi guys, I have a 06 with 6000 miles on it. I am having a lil bit of grinding when I am shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear, it's hard to gear in properly, and it happends usually after a cold start up, when the car has been driving for awhile, then there is no problem, is it normal? or something is wrong?

Thanks in advance

Notchiness from 1-2 and 2-3 is normal on a cold startup for all year s2000s.

Every S2000 that I've driven, regardless of model year, exhibited this behavior. Its the downside of a direct link transmission such as the one we have.

It is normal. A fluid change will help though. Until the tranny fluid reaches normal operating temp (hot), you have to be careful how you shift into 2nd. All gears will seem notchy until operating temp is reached too. How long does it take? It depends on the OAT and how fast you are driving. I've found that mine will shift easier from 1-2 if I take the the RPM's up higher in 1st. But I still prefer to baby the 1-2 shift until the oil is hot. Then, there's no problem at all with any gear.

This is the proper Honda fluid.
It helped for me but I still have a little first to second noise once and a while when cold.

I have around 5,000 miles on my '07 and have this notchiness from 1-2 when cold. From doing research here and driving other people's S2k's I've found it to be normal. I've also taken it to the dealer two times to check it out and they told me it's normal as well (they did replace the MTF both times though as a precaution).
