Default Problem after replacing clutch

Hi everyone.

I just finished replacing my clutch, TOB, and PP on my 2002 S.

There is no resistance the first 2/3 of clutch pedal travel and then it suddenly engages. This is stone cold and still on jacks.

Because I did this on my garage floor it was up on stands for a while and I worked on it as I had time and I'm trying to remember if I greased everything properly.

I know I greased the splines on the clutch plate (lightly) but cannot for the life of me recall applying grease anywhere else in the assmbly. If I did miss applying lube to a component would this be an obvious symptom?

I have bled the the system, I did the plunger polish thing and no change. I have no idea what to do next and I sure as hell don't want to remove the tranny again if there is something simple I am missing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you need to adjust your clutch pedal.

Its the Clutch Master Cylinder. (the plunger thing) 100 dollar part - 20 dollar install. Same thing happened with mine. Swap it out. It goes bad after a while.

Fixes the loose clutch pedal.

You can adjust the push rod on the master cylinder. Open the lock nut and wind the rod in as far as it can go towards the cylinder, lock the nut and your set.

This allows you compress more fluid with a push of the clutch pedal, should be as free as butter.

Thanks for the replies.

I replaced the CMC and rebled.... same problem. &^%$$$!

Then I remembered I had forced the slave open when reassembling the trans, and assumed I had damaged it.

So I ordered a new slave, and on the way back from picking up the slave, the pedal tension came back up.

I haven't looked at a diagram of the clutch slave, but I bet a seal was dislodged when it was forced closed and somehow it reseated itself while driving.

I got lucky.

But why it didn't leak is a mystery and yes I'm keeping the salve.. in case my luck and the slave don't hold.
