Default problem between the transmission and the wheels

This is what happened:

I was about to launch the car from approximately 4k RPMs. I started to engage the clutch, when I got to the catch point I heard a loud metal clunk. Afterwards, I can rev the engine in neutral or with the clutch disengaged and it seems fine. When I select a gear and let the clutch out to the catch point I hear a rotational, metal, clunking noise. I can let the pedal all the way out in any gear and it won't stall, and no power is being delivered to any wheels in any situation and it also makes the noise I described. Also when I select a gear and start to engage the clutch and rev the engine the speedometer starts climbing even though I'm not moving.

I installed an exedy clutch and pressure plate with an ACT pro lite flywheel about 10k miles ago. Before today the car was running well. However, this clutch has really loud buzz/chatter. I formally had an AP2 with clutch buzz, but this car's is much louder. I know this car is notorious for clutch buzz so I never gave it a second thought, but now I'm thinking maybe it was extra loud for a reason..

Anyway, this all happened after the sun went down... but what should I inspect tomorrow? I'm thinking it's either a clutch blew or an axle blew.

Is the Exedy clutch kit you used a stock OE replacement or a stronger unit? You may have broke the left CV axle. The trans is turning so the clutch is working that is why your speedo is showing speed. Is your clutch engagement harsh, hard to make smooth?

The clutch is a stock replacement. I even thought OEM clutches were made by Exedy. Not sure about that though. The speed sensor is in the transmission, not in the wheels?

The clutch petal doesn't seem to do much. I guess you would say the engagement is smooth. But at the same time the engine will not stall, even when it's in gear and not moving.

I will make a short video in the morning.

Speed sensor is in the transmission, and it reads the counter shaft I believe. So, your clutch must be working and the transmission spinning partially. The output shaft may not be spinning, or something further back is totally kaput and allowing the engine to drive the tranny at idle so it doesn't stall..

You broke an axle internally. Look for a twisted cv boot.
The S2000 is not designed to launch and doing so will destroy it. Your mainshaft and second gear will be next to go.

Launch was the wrong word. I was about to execute a 180 degree turn. I've never medium or hard launched the car.

By go next do you mean even if I got the axles fixed/replaced?
