Maybe you need to take it easier on your diff?

I just changed my diff, HUGE DIFFERENCE IN FEEL TO THE CAR. There was a half marble sized glob of metal paste, I wasn't too worried since the car doesn't see much abuse but just keep track of your diff fluid changes. As long as you changed it, there's really nothing you can do to eradicate the amount of metal that comes out.

I think you're probably okay, OP. Just a good reminder to change it every 15K.

What huge difference can changing the diff oil do? What do you feel that is different?

Not when you have no idea when the previous owner changed the diff fluid, it was pretty low on fluid for whatever reason, and the bolts were way overtorqed (probably some rushed serviceman working on it) . It feels significantly smoother between/after shifts, and a more constant pull through the RPMs. If you're seriously meticulous about every detail mechanically you can tell the difference, but unless you really delay on changing the fluids you won't experience a "needy" diff fluid change.

A metallic like sludge is very common in most rearends unless your running a Spool. the only time you should ever be worried is if you find "chunks" of metal or a very very large amount of shavings.

The Torsen LSD plays a - IMO huge - role in handling, especially on-throttle-out-of-corners.
Oil plays a role in how the Torsen unit deals with torque distribution under load and equal grip (and that's important in corners)
1 + 1 = 2

Diff oil can change handling.

Listen to S2KPUDDYDAD.
Use good diff oil, its worth it.

It's normal. Purchased my AP1 with 79k miles and when I did my initial fluid change the condition of the diff fluid was exactly as you described. Nothing to worry about.

There's a reason why Honda puts a magnet in the drain plug from the factory.
