Default problem with my tranny...

this is not the normal 1-2nd grind. the gears on my car does not grind but
sometimes when i'm rolling in 2nd gear and i want to pull outta the 2nd
and shift into 3rd or netural when i'm coming to a stop, the gear got stuck!!
i had to use some force to get it outta 2nd gear. it happens when the engine/tranny
is cold (when i start to drive the car)...but goes away when i play when the gear box
a little bit. is this normal? or is it just that i need to let the car warm up more before
i drive it? it was just normal shifting and i didn't push the car hard (no vtec)....
or should i change out my tranny fluid? what kinda? honda MTF? how many quarts?
a little info about my s2000: it's a 2000, with about 6000 miles on it. i have changed
the engine oil twice and haven't changed any tranny fluid or diff. fluid since new.

thanks and sorry for so many questions...i'm just a little worried.

Although you don't have very many miles on it, the oil is pretty old. I wouldn't want to leave oil in anything for 2 years without a change. I just changed my tranny oil last night, and it helped quite a bit. I have 7600 miles on mine, but it is only 3 months old.

thanks for the reply. i think it's time to change out
my tranny fluid. since i'm doing that, i might as well
change the differential fluid as well.
what tranny oil do you use? how many quarts? sorry
i dont have a helms manual so i dont know how many
quarts our tranny take. is it 3 quarts like the B-series
(Acura Integra) tranny?

Based on the input I received from the forum, I went with the Honda MTF. The Helm's manual says it takes less than 2 quarts, but unless you have a long hose with a funnel, your going to have a hard time making it on just 2. I bought 3 quarts, and a screw on hose from Walmart. To get the oil into the tranny, I had to squease (sp?) the bottle (like a tube of toothpaste). Doing it that way meant that I couldn't get ALL of the oil out of the bottle into the tranny.

It is about as easy as an engine oil change, but the placement of the oil fill hole is awekward. The important thing is to make sure that the car is level when you refill it, so that you don't over / under fill it. After you drain the oil, you remove the fill bolt (right above it), and pour oil in until it starts spilling back out.

BTW, when you buy the oil from Honda, make sure you get new crush washers for the two bolts (from Honda). If you don't, you might get a leak, and you wouldn't know it until your tranny seizes up!

Try these two links. I think they are actually dealerships who sell Genuine Honda Parts online.
