Default Problem: Window won't roll up

My passenger side window won't roll up anymore. Starting about 2 weeks ago, it would take a few pulls on the window button for it to roll up, but it just completely stopped working a couple of days ago.

Is it the window motor? What's weird is that when I try to roll it up using the button on the driver's side, I don't hear any clicks near the window, but when I use the passenger side, I hear a click, but it still doesn't roll up on either side.

Any suggestions? It's probably a common problem. The car is 7-8 years old.
  • Yes, I checked the window lock switch.
  • I tried my co-worker's passenger side switch, and it still doesn't work. Same symptoms. I'll try the driver's side window switch next.

Thanks,
Jeff

But mine won't roll up regardless of which side you try to roll it up with. Driver side button won't work, passenger side won't work either.

What switch are you talking? Is it the one you actually click/pull on? ..or is it a switch inside the door panel?

Did you check the lockout switch on the drivers side?

Only thing in the Helms is to physically pull the switches out and test continuity.

Behind the lower dash panel on the passenger side is your power top/ window control module.

Download a copy of helms trouble shooter for it and you can find the problem in less than a half an hour. Your windows are tied into your power top. If it's not the window switch, it's probably the control module but the tests will tell you exactly what it is.
