Well I thought my car made it, but when I was almost home.... when engaging into VTEC it hesitates and stutters and makes no more power. My MAP was messing up this weekend at lower RPM's. I'm gonna check my plugs, someone mentioned a fuel pump problem they had, and possibly my MAP. It was fine cruising into work this morning at under 5k then i tried to VTEC again and the same thing..just wasn't there.... any suggestions as what to check this week.

 

Check your oil. Low oil = no Vtec.

 

My MAP has been slowly crapping out, as well. It decided to flip out on me again less than a mile from the driveway at the start of a long roadtrip. A couple of good whacks and an ECU reset resolved it, but this is the third (?) time in less than 6 months. When it starts to act up, not only is VTEC crappy, but it idles so poorly that the engine shuts off when coming to a stop

 

Oil is full. The first thing I checked.

 

I may give my MAP another whack, I was in a hurry this morning to work and didn't have time. I'll whack it after work and to reset the ecu do you just pull a fuse and put it back in?

 

Yes, "BACK UP" fuse. Pull out for about 30 seconds, put back in. I might also suggest that you disconnect the wiring harness on the MAP and then wiggle it back on vigorously. Sometimes, this improves the contacts enough to solve an existing problem.

 

I hope this does it for now...but for some reason it wasn't the same feel that the MAP messin up in the lower RPM's usually felt like. BACK UP is in the engine bay fuse block right?

Don't wanna dash your hopes, but I have a feeling you may be back to square 1 on this. Your situation just sounds like more than a MAP whack and a reset can fix.
