I bet you would spend more $ trying to build a decent blower mount for ATI's universal system. I see no signifigant power differences between any available centrifugal SC at the same boost level.

As a side note, Most of the Vortech SC's chassis dyno around 300 peak HP with 7.5psi of boost. I've seen several Turbo S dyno sheets with similar boost levels that make 270-280 peak HP. The Turbo cars do make more power through the RPM range, but the SC's generate less heat than the Turbo.

I've been rethinking that paragraph. Does our SC get hot because of friction and compression, or because engine temp oil is circulating through it? I wonder if a sealed/isolated system would be hotter or cooler?
engine oil is used to COOL the vortech/paxton. I'm pretty sure they'd get real hot without...

Cool, thanks for the info everyone.
Anyone have specific experience with a Procharger (on any car) and the amount of heat it builds up since it isn't cooled by the engine's oil supply?

(Oh, Pakisho, its not idiocy because its not EXACTLY like the other available supercharger kits. But I'm glad your reading skills are up to par. )

Sorry.

But yeah, the ATI offers no major benefit over the rest of the crowd. They do use air-air intercooling, which is different to the liquid cooled setups. However, the prochargers and the vortechs both make similar power under similar conditions on Z06s, so I dont think there is any major advantage to trying out a procharger (the R&D would be extensive, to say the least).

its still a centrifugal design, i see no advantages over a vortech. Adn I dont know about the sealed lubrication system if I read correctly. Will it fail after a while? is it reliable?. At least w/ Comptech or Vortech, you are getting a fresh supply of oil.

i said this long ago, so im subscribed. ATi has ruled the centrifugal world since their inception. thats why back east they have the uhm *cough* ATi nationals. hmm. yeah, and ATi makes more power on mustangs than any other. i have to say that ATi has the same magic that honda has. i mean, how sweet sealed unit, no oil lines and drain. yeah nice. if theyd make a kit. id be first on the list. when it comes down to it, tuning is the majority of it, but i just like the idea of having ATi name under my belt. laters, oh yeah, also on my wish list, is a kenne bell kit for our cars. oh man, hehe s2000's that wheely. hehe laters dave

Coming from the mustang community, I agree that ati dominates in the top performance classes however vortech still rules the street class. If you also go to any of the late model mustang boards you will see that the vortech is much more reliable where the ati tends to leak after some mileage

my comptech dyno'd at 294whp @ standard psi (6, i think?). this was without tuning...straight bolt on and drive.

is there a general rule of thumb about how much more whp one can get per 1/2 pound increase in boost??

I don't know of any rule, but I wouldn't expect a big change for .5psi additional.
