Take an engine oil sample and send it in to a lab for analysis. Pay additional for glycol test. You will be looking for high sodium, potassium, or glycol readings in the oil. A good place to order a kit is Polaris Labs. Blackstone doesn't test for glycol, but uses Na and K to speculate coolant contamination. Good luck!




I would also send a clean sample of whatever oil you use to estabish a baseline for NA, K, and glycol for a more accurate interpretation of the UOA. Some blenders are starting to use DOW oil soluble PAG in their formula's, so glycol will show in the clean sample if they use it.

 

Are you 100% sure it isn't light blue (oil) smoke? It can be hard to tell a difference sometimes. Puffs of blue smoke would be fairly typical of an AP1.
